The 6 Kinds of Client Calls I Never Refuse (Even When My Schedule Is Full)

People assume a cleaning business schedules based on money. Highest-paying job wins the priority slot. Fifteen years in, I promise you this is not how it works for anyone who has been doing it long enough to build a life around it.

There are six types of calls I never refuse. Even when my schedule is packed. Even when it means calling my husband to say I will be late for dinner. Here they are.

MY SCHEDULING RULE

“Some calls are worth more than money. When a human being needs a clean home right now, we find a way.”

— Leila Flores, Owner

1. “My Elderly Mother Is Coming Home From the Hospital”

Nothing changes my Monday morning schedule faster than this call. Coming home to a clean, safe environment matters more when you are 82 and just spent a week in a hospital bed. We always find a way. Same day if humanly possible.

2. “We Just Lost Someone”

Estate cleanups. Post-death home resets. Cleaning after hospice care ended. These calls come with weight. Family members trying to hold it together. We show up gently. We do not talk unless asked. We do the work.

3. “A Family Member Was Just Sick”

Flu. Covid. Norovirus. Whatever it is. When a family calls scared about the rest of the household getting it, we make room in the schedule for a same-day whole-room disinfectant fog. Peace of mind is worth rearranging a day.

4. “I Am Bringing a New Baby Home”

Home should be sanctuary when the newborn arrives. If a family calls us the day the mom is being induced or scheduled for a C-section, we find a slot within 48 hours. Deep clean + whole-room disinfectant fog. Fresh sheets on the guest bed for grandma. Coming home to safety.

5. “My Client Is Coming Over Tomorrow”

A working professional calling because a big client visit is happening tomorrow and their home office needs to be Zoom-perfect. Their career matters. We show up.

6. “My Home Was Just Robbed” or “There Was a Break-In”

These calls come rarely. When they do, the family needs to feel safe in their own space again. We do a full-home deep clean and disinfectant. Reset the psychological weight. Same day or next day. Nothing else on the schedule matters more.

Common Questions Our Clients Ask

How long has DVL been in business?

Fifteen years and counting. Owner Leila Flores started DVL in 2010 with a commitment to combine professional cleaning standards with the warmth of a family-run business. That balance has defined every hire, every process, every client relationship since.

What cleaning products do you use?

Our default product set is EPA Safer Choice certified, pet-safe, and family-safe. For clients with specific chemical sensitivities, allergies, or asthma, we switch to full green-certified alternatives at no premium. Just tell us at booking.

Are your team members insured and bonded?

Yes. Every team member carries full liability insurance and is bonded. Every team member has passed a background check, verified annually. This is not marketing language. It is our operating minimum.

Will I have the same cleaning team every visit?

Yes. Same-team-every-visit is our foundational policy. Our clients typically have the same 2-person team for years. This is why our team members are familiar faces in our clients’ Ring cameras and neighborhoods.

What if something is missed or does not meet expectations?

We come back within 24 hours to make it right. Free of charge. This come-back guarantee has been part of DVL from day one. It reflects our commitment to actual quality, not marketing promises.

Do you serve areas outside your listed cities?

Yes. Our primary service area covers Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Falls Church, McLean, Vienna, Tysons, Woodbridge, Lorton, Fort Hunt, Manassas, and Prince William County. We serve select clients in DC and other DMV neighborhoods on request. Ask us if your neighborhood is not listed.

If You Are in Crisis

Ready to Talk?

The first consultation is always free. No pressure. No hard sell. Just a walk-through of your home and a straightforward conversation about what actually fits your household needs and budget. Most conversations take about 20 minutes.

We do not use aggressive sales tactics. Fifteen years in this business has taught us that the clients who stay for years choose us because the service actually fits their life, not because they were persuaded. That is how we build long-term client relationships.

Whether you have used professional cleaning services before or this is your first time considering it, we will walk you through the options honestly. Weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or one-time. Deep clean, move-out, vacation rental turnover, or specialized service. We help you figure out which fits.

Our team looks forward to serving your home the way it deserves. Old Town Alexandria to Woodbridge, Tysons to Falls Church, we cover Northern Virginia and the DMV with the same commitment and consistency.

If any of these situations describes what you are facing right now, please reach out to us here. Tell us it is urgent when you call. Our service area covers Alexandria, Arlington, and across Northern Virginia and the DMV. We will find you a slot.
