Myth 4: Steam Cleaning Kills Everything
Steam cleaning is powerful. But temperature-dependent. Home steam mops often do not maintain the 200°F+ temperature needed for germ kill on the second surface after leaving the sole plate. Great for grease. Less great for guaranteed disinfection.
Myth 5: Wood Floors Need Special Products
Most modern wood floors have polyurethane sealer. They only need pH-neutral cleaner and a damp mop. Special “wood floor” products are marketing 90% of the time. Damp microfiber with mild soap is what actually works.
Myth 6: Dryer Sheets Are Safe
Dryer sheets leave residue in your dryer’s lint filter. This reduces airflow. Increases dry time. Increases energy use. Increases fire risk. Wool dryer balls are a superior alternative.
